I think that we really should start educating the masses as to the effectiveness of charter schools and voucher programs. The WSJ has a really good article about the success in various cities and the union’s attempts to eradicate all competition in schools. The individual mentioned in the article, Caroline Hoxby, did a study for the Hoover Institute on charter schools in New York. You can see the video here. I really wish some of our local politicians would start a movement to bring a charter school/voucher program to Alabama.

It truly pains me to see Sen. Richard Shelby masquerading as a conservative. This ex-democrat is on the appropriations committee and takes full advantage of it, at the expense of the American taxpayer. From supporting protectionism, to thousands in federal dollars to refurbish the Vulcan in Birmingham, Sen. Shelby has for years been prime example of the wasteful politicians in Washington. The Citizens Against Government Waste is a wonderful watchdog group. You can visit their site here for information on any of your favorite politicians and their spending habits.
